Organized by the American Homebrewers Association (AHA), Teach a Friend to Homebrew Day is held each year on the first Saturday in November. Homebrewers around the world are encouraged to invite non-brewing and brewing friends and family to celebrate Teach a Friend to Homebrew Day and brew a batch of beer together. As a homebrewing organization ASH registers an official site to honor this occasion.

ASH Is Participating in Worldwide Day Dedicated to Teaching Homebrewing

November 7th, 2009 is the AHA's 10th Annual Teach a Friend to Homebrew Day and the Arizona Society of Homebrewers is participating in this year's celebration.

Teach a Friend to Homebrew Day is an international event celebrated each year on the first Saturday in November with the goal of introducing people to the homebrewing hobby. ASH is happy to invite anyone who is interested in learning how to homebrew to stop by the site from 10am to 6pm on Saturday, November 7th. If you are an extract-only homebrewer this is also a great chance to learn the all-grain brewing process from another club member.

For those that intend to brew, Jeffrey has offered a 10% discount on brewing supplies for the event. He will have plenty of water and will be supplying Wyeast Am. Ale 1056 and Wyeast London Ale 1028 yeast if desired. You need to let him know if you need it so that they can have enough prepared. Email : Jeffrey

In 2008 More than 2,100 happy homebrewers taught another 610 people how to brew at 145 sites, producing over 2800 gallons of beer in the process. Sites were registered in 40 States, 2 Canadian Provinces, Kenya, and Denmark.

"One of the great things about homebrewers is they are happy to share their knowledge and to pass on the joy that they find in homebrewing to others," states Gary Glass, the director for AHA, "that's really what Teach A Friend To Homebrew Day is all about."

Homebrewing is a hobby that is increasing in popularity and something that almost anyone 21 years and older can enjoy. Homebrewing is a rewarding but easy hobby – anyone who has a kitchen can do it. The equipment and ingredients needed are less expensive than most people think.

If you are planning to attend, please email club vp Ben Conner at VP so we can have an accurate headcount. We will be grilling burgers, dogs & brats and provide non-alcoholic drinks. You are welcome to bring homebrew to share as well.
